Rosi’s Sonnbergstubern The famous Sonnbergstuben on the Bichlalm is as legendary as its singing hostess, Rosi Schipflinger. A popular meeting place for guests from near and far who appreciate down-to-earth specialties, a cozy atmosphere, and genuine Kitzbühel hospitality at 1,200 meters above sea level, the Sonnbergstuben has long been known beyond the borders of Tyrol. And not only for its beautiful panorama, its creative cuisine, and, above all, for the well-known and popular singing hostess, Rosi Schipflinger herself. Lavish celebrations, such as the Almrausch Party or the schnitzel dinner during the Hahnenkamm weekend, are regular fixtures for high society and media representatives. Celebrities, personalities from business and politics, and even ordinary people flock to the Sonnbergstuben every day.
The Sonnbergstuben is a popular destination both summer and winter. Nestled amidst the breathtaking Kitzbühel mountains, the Sonnbergstuben offers guests 18 four-star rooms. Since last year, hikers, sun worshipers, and gourmets have been able to enjoy a cozy stopover via the mid-station of the Bichlalm lift.

Rosi Schipflinger’s uninterrupted success story began in 1968. With hard work and passion, she quickly transformed the former guesthouse into a model gastronomic establishment of the highest caliber. With her warmth, down-to-earth attitude, and her songs, she enchants her guests and has transformed Rosi’s Sonnbergstube into a truly special place for 49 years. “It was and still is a special place,” the passionate landlady is convinced.
It all began with music – she learned to sing and play music from her grandfather. With her first apprenticeship salary, she bought her own guitar and taught herself to play. Her musical breakthrough came in 1991 – on July 21, 1991, to be precise. On that day, the world premiere of the song “Kitzbühel, mein Augenstern” (producer Jack White) took place in the tennis stadium in Kitzbühel. From then on, Rosi became increasingly famous – the “singing landlady” of Kitzbühel has appeared on German and Austrian television for over 20 years. She even yodeled on camera for a South African producer in Stellenbosch.
In 2018, the singing landlady celebrated her 50th anniversary. To this day, Rosi Schipflinger takes care of all aspects of the Sonnberg restaurant every day—from setting the table, serving, welcoming guests, and, of course, looking after her approximately 35 employees. She has been supported for over five years by her son and head chef, Fridel.
