Family business at the Kitzbüheler Horn since 1893
The Alpenhaus in Kitzbühel has been run by the Reisch family since 1893. Franz Reisch, who also made Austria’s first high-alpine ski descent from the Kitzbüheler Horn into the valley, purchased the Alpenhaus and the Kagringalpe on the Kitzbüheler Horn in 1893. Franz and Maria Reisch’s son continued to run the Alpenhaus as a hotel. Walter also built the Alter Hornweg trail and provided land and funding for the construction of the Horn Chapel.
Ernst Reisch, the third generation of the Reisch family on the Kitzbüheler Horn, converted the Alpenhaus from a hotel to a day-to-day business. One of his pioneering achievements was the construction of the Panorama Road in 1965. Franz Reisch, along with his wife Ursula and their children Franziska and Hans-Peter, now runs the Alpenhaus in the fourth generation. The Landhotel Jodlbühel in Jochberg is also run as a family business by Ursula and Franz Reisch.
The Alpenhaus, the perfect place to enjoy
Our goal is to improve the quality of life of every person, because everyone has the right to a healthy, beautiful and fulfilling life!
A la carte menus
For this reason, our dishes and pastries are homemade and prepared with lots of joy and love by the Alpenhaus team!
Whether it’s vegan lentil soup, a classic Wiener schnitzel with homemade potato salad, or a snack platter with house-smoked bacon, the Alpenhaus has something for everyone. The spinach dumplings are so well-known that we were featured on the Austrian TV show Daheim with our recipe.
The Kaiserschmarrn is freshly prepared à la minute. Our in-house pastry chef, Hans-Peter, bakes sweet creations every day, from apple strudel to Sachertorte, and our curd strudel recipe has already been revealed on the television show “Guten Morgen Österreich.”
On the podcast “Servus Gute Küche,” Franz cooked Kaiserschmarrn and Kaspressknödel with Mesi and Harald at the Alpenhaus. Listen to it here!
